The only reason for stopping in Wichita Falls was that we didn’t want to drive all the way to Amarillo in one day. We arrived around noon and did only the minimum setup we needed for an overnight.
Soon after, Teddy had his first of four seizures in that one day. Each was similar, about 10 minutes in length, and making his recovery longer and weaker. After the first two, I remembered that our new friend, Dr. John Walker, lived in Amarillo. I quickly raised him on the phone, explained our trauma, and asked if he could have qualified vet care on tap when we arrived the following day. He went right to it and contacted Seth Soloman, a young vet whose skills he admired. Now in his eighties (you would never know it), John had long since practiced himself.
We got out of there as early as we could on Friday morning with Ted riding on Dot’s lap.
